Top 8 Features of Salesforce Summer ’23 Release

Prepare yourself for some thrilling updates! Salesforce has once again outdone itself with the Summer ’23 release, packed with numerous features designed to accelerate automation and personalize every customer interaction.

In this article, we will explore the top 8 characteristics of this release:

1. Integrated Analytics Services

Enjoy smooth engagement with all of your Lightning reports, dashboards, CRM Analytics resources, and Einstein Discovery models and forecasts, thanks to the consolidated interface in the Analytics section and Slack in the Summer ’23 release. The Analytics tab is now more powerful, with advanced search capabilities, recommendations, organized statistics, and more, making it the go-to place for your Lightning reports, dashboards, and CRM Analytics assets.

Swiftly disseminates information with colleagues throughout Slack workspaces and channels using the ‘Post to Slack’ functionality on Lightning dashboards and the CRM data for the Slack application.

2. The Unified Analytics Home

The new Analytics Home brings all your analytics together in one place, streamlining the way you access information.

No longer do you need to manage analytics scattered across different products. The Analytics Home consolidates all your CRM analytics, reports, and dashboards into a single, organized environment, making it easier than ever to find the information you need.

3. Customer Data Platform Rebranded as Data Cloud

The Customer Data Platform has transformed and is now known as Salesforce Data Cloud, which includes updated documentation and additional features. During the branding transition, remnants of old brand names might appear in some places.

Where: This modification pertains to every edition of the Lightning Experience.

How: To gain insight into new and existing Data Cloud content, visit the About Salesforce Data Cloud help page.

4. Limiting Emails Sent by Guest Users

This update aims to prevent organizations from sending emails using guest user records with unverified email addresses. Organizations possessing a validated organization-wide email address will not be impacted by this release update, as the “sent from” email address always reverts to the authenticated email address. The Summer ’23 release enforces this change, effectively barring emails from being sent from the organization using an unverified email address by a guest user.

Where: This change impacts organizations using Lightning Experience or Salesforce Classic that has a guest user.

5. Upgrade to Hyperforce Using Hyperforce Assistant

Hyperforce Assistant is now available, streamlining the process of upgrading to Hyperforce. The updated assistant features the latest authorized Hyperforce messaging and has improved the hard-coded references check in the Prepare phase to accommodate Salesforce Orgs with a large number of Apex classes.

Where: Hyperforce Assistant is accessible in all editions of Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic.

How: After scheduling your upgrade, you’ll be prompted to initiate the assistance. Activate the assistant manually for those scheduled for a major org migration (MOM) but unable to view the popup. In Setup, type “Hyperforce Assistant” in the Quick Find Box and click on the option.

6. OmniStudio Document Generation Accelerates Quote Template Creation

Salesforce CPQ Plus simplifies the process of creating templates for your reps to generate quotes for customers. Generate a Microsoft Word (.docx) file in your desired language and format, insert tokens, upload the document, and associate the tokens with Salesforce fields. Once this template is active, your sales representatives can start utilizing it. Representatives have the option to convert their documents to PDFs.

Where: This update affects Salesforce CPQ Plus in both Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience.

7. Real-Time Collaboration with PRM for Slack App

Enhance communication and collaboration by bringing internal teams and external partners together in a single channel using Slack. Slack enables you to automate essential business processes, access, update, and share records, and much more. PRM for Slack connects your salesforce with partners, providing essential information via partner portals, increasing productivity, and fostering improved communication.

Where: This modification affects the Enterprise and Unlimited editions of the Salesforce mobile app and Lightning Experience. Slack Enterprise Grid users are mandatory.

8. Incorporate External Data into Flow Builder Without Programming

Flow Builder now allows you to develop an HTTP callout action utilizing a web service API to automate processes involving external data without the need for coding. After entering the API details, Flow Builder generates a reusable callout action that can be employed instantly in Flow Builder and across Salesforce.

This widely available feature has undergone improvements since the last release. Configuring and editing API responses in an HTTP callout action, allowing the use of external data inflows, has been made simpler and more declarative.

Where: This improvement affects Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions of Lightning Experience.

Who: Administrators with Manage Flow and Customize Applications permissions can create an HTTP callout action.

Why: APIs often experience alterations, such as the addition of a new field in an external system.

Previously, modifying the reusable HTTP callout action necessitated adjusting the auto-generated API definition and understanding JSON. Now, the action can be amended with just a few clicks.

Top 8 Features of Salesforce Summer '23 Release

Instead of editing JSON while configuring the parsing of the API response, you can conveniently choose data types for fields by clicking on them within the inferred data structure. Data types available encompass date, Date/Time, and boolean.

Additionally, when creating your HTTP callout action, you’ll receive more intelligible error messages, helping you troubleshoot and prevent issues during runtime.

9. Enhancing Productivity with Quick Create Sandbox

Salesforce’s Summer 23 Release includes Quick Create Full Sandboxes, a new feature that speeds up sandbox creation and refreshing. It will be available for new Full sandbox requests on eligible Hyperforce instances and requires no action from Salesforce admins as it is the default setting. The staggered release will begin after June 10, 2023, and users must have the Manage Sandbox user permission to use this feature.

10. Goodbye to Process Builder: Retiring Processes in Process Builder

Listen up, Salesforce users! Process Builder is no longer capable of adding new processes due to the changed rules. Yet hold off on pressing the panic button. You can still edit and activate/deactivate existing processes. And here’s the cherry on top: for most use cases, it’s recommended that you migrate over to Flow Builder. The next-generation automation tool will propel your business processes to new heights. If you’re developing managed packages, you can still create processes in developer orgs. So, what are you waiting for? Embrace the change and unlock a whole new level of automation possibilities!
