How To Install a Data Bundle in the Data Cloud?

Integrating Salesforce Data Cloud with the necessary bundles to facilitate CRM data analysis can significantly enhance your business intelligence and data management capabilities.

In this blog, we break down the detailed process of installing a data bundle in the Salesforce Data Cloud, as explained in a helpful tutorial by saasguru.

Understanding Data Cloud Bundle Installation

Before diving into the core of data integration, it’s essential to comprehend the array of options available within Data Cloud settings. Salesforce provides several bundles that help streamline the integration of CRM information and other data sources, such as B2C Commerce, Marketing Cloud, and external activation platforms.

These bundles are designed to create the necessary Data Streams (DS’s) and mappings with the data model objects (dmos), which are crucial for effective data handling.

Steps to Install a Service Cloud Bundle

For this tutorial, we will focus on installing the Service Cloud bundle, which is one version of the many standard bundles provided by Salesforce. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Navigate to Data Cloud Setup: Access the Data Cloud setup by clicking the gear icon in your Salesforce interface.
  2. Select the Bundle: Within the setup menu, find and select ‘Salesforce CRM’ where a connector should already be established. Here, Salesforce lists standard bundles like Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and others.
  3. Installation Process: Choose the Service Cloud bundle. For our example, we will use version 3.1. Click ‘Install’, which will direct you to a standard package installation page.
  4. View Components: Before proceeding, click on ‘View Components’ to inspect what’s included in the bundle. It’s important to understand what you are integrating as some versions may include components not required for your trial org.
  5. Selecting the Right Version: If the current version has components that are unnecessary or incompatible with your org (as was the case with Field Service Lightning in version 3.0), you might need to opt for an older version. For instance, if you need a simpler integration with fewer objects, you might choose version 1.2 which includes only three essential objects.
  6. Installing an Older Version: To install an older version like 1.2, copy the package identifier from its URL and append it to the installation URL. Confirm the version number, choose ‘Install for Admins Only’, and proceed with the installation.
  7. Completion of Installation: Once you initiate the installation, the process will run, and upon completion, a success message will appear indicating that the bundle is now integrated into your Data Cloud.
