3 Effective Ways to Prepare for and Pass your Salesforce Exam With Anna Szabo

Where focus goes, energy flows. If you have a vision for what’s possible for you, you will focus on channeling your energy in that direction. Taking the motivation from the quote, this guide will take you through effective ways to prepare for and pass your Salesforce certification exam.

It will not just be about certifications; it’s going to be about the vision for your career.

Before jumping on to effective ways to pass your Salesforce certification, let us explore answers to some of the most common questions.

Now, answering some of these questions –

  • What role do certifications play in attaining career success? And what role does leadership play in career success?

The role of certifications in career success goes hand in hand with experience. And what comes first,  experience or all the credentials? It is an experience.

But certifications add more weight and serve as a testimony to what you know about what you’re capable of doing. As a beginner, go for the credentials. Because if you were to pass the level of being noticed by the interviewers, and get your foot in the door, even before reaching the interview, if you have to prove your worth, then certifications on your resume are worth it.

Certifications are a way to level up to scale up. And when you’re preparing for the certifications, you have the goal in mind and something to focus on. And you have a specific Exam Guide that you will be working on. It serves as a way to learn about topics you haven’t worked on before and then get up to date.  So for a beginner or a professional trying to grow in their career, certifications are one way to prove their worth and show the world that they are capable of doing something.

Let’s get started.

1. Shadow a professional working on a platform

Doing so will help you see how they use Salesforce so that you gain comprehension for your certification preparation. Why is it this way? How has it been leveraged? What are the challenges of doing this, this, and the others? You can also learn about exceptions.

What role did leadership play in your career success? And is it recommended that the trailblazers engage in leadership and do things for the community to help them land their dream job?

Taking guidance from a mentor is highly recommended.  It is also worth noting that when you’re hosting an event or when you’re coordinating, or when you’re speaking at an event, you hone your skills, you prepare more, and then you interact, you blend, and you do a lot of stuff in the background. So it helps you to stay up to date and also the feeling of giving back to the community.

2. Ask for mentorship and follow your mentor’s advice

Ask for mentorship, which you can ask for can be on YouTube. It can be on the trailhead; it can be on LinkedIn. And then, once you get your mentors’ advice, follow them. The mentor believes in you. And that fuels your vision for what’s possible for you. And then, you go on to earn your certifications because you think there will be a positive outcome for your new career.

The hardest thing about Salesforce is getting your first job. And there are probably a few people who know that. Once you get your first job, the first six months of experience. You’re on your way; you’re gearing up.

In your first job, you’ve got to leverage every virtual meetup in person to meet with user groups. Recruiters can only give you positions to some of you because they have specific business requirements for which they need particular people with specific skills and experiences. But you can ask recruiters for their tips, and you can ask for their advice. You could ask how you can help. You could make some introductions from your network. And you can build those relationships.

3. Specialise and Develop a Professional Brand

If you look at the portfolio of Salesforce products today, it’s evolved a lot since where it used to be when I started recruiting in the industry almost 10 years ago now. And so, as a result, we’re seeing many of the Salesforce roles themselves trending towards specialization. It is something intangible that goes beyond your resume and certifications. A professional brand is about how you define yourself professionally. But it also has to include some personal elements that make you unique. It has to be authentic to you.

Networking is equally important. We all know that the Salesforce ecosystem is close-knit. So building relationships is critical. If you have a strong network, you’ll be in a better position for career opportunities or to learn about career opportunities. Recruiters spend a lot of time on LinkedIn.

Participate in group discussions, and comment on people’s posts. Networking is something that only translates into immediate results. Networking is usually a more extended play. The more you put in, the more you get out of it. So when you are networking, keep in mind you’re building your relationships for long-term benefits, and it can leave a positive impression if you network effectively.

It is also essential to look for entry-level opportunities in the Salesforce ecosystem, even if you have a lot of experience in another field. If you are new to Salesforce, don’t be afraid to look for entry-level positions because those can give you a foot in the door.

The most critical question is: How should Trailblazers figure out what their first job in the Salesforce ecosystem should be?

So, it depends on the skills and experience. Candidates should ask themselves the question- Are you a technical person? Then you’d want to be a developer. If you are more communicative and know how to build better relationships in businesses and with clients, you might want to be a business analyst. So, it depends on where your interests lie.
